I did a google search for Scott Samuel.

Comments on Wingo's blog are the top hit, but after that there is little or nothing for a good while that reveals his nature. Rust never sleeps, and neither does Scott. He's out there somewhere, and it's been too long for him to not be up to something.

One value of this place is the archives with all the Scott Samuel stuff. Whatever Ross decides to do with this place, that stuff needs to be saved and it needs to have a much higher google ranking than it does.

In fact, even if you do a search here on his name, it brings up some PeSA stuff, and some AE stuff with Hepburn and Jay Senese defending him. Or links back to OTWA with Puzzlegoddess defending him.

Is there anyone else who wants to step forward and defend him now? Or are we finally past that? Can we have a thread about Scott and simply talk about the way he is, and what he does, and why he is dangerous?

So.... what we know about Scott Samuel...

Well, Let's see... I'm 37 Interview was done in May, 2004, so as of this he is 40-41., and have been a member of the online community since roughly 1980, having run some of the earliest BBS systems in the nation back in the days of 300 baud modems. Right after that, I started my first for-profit Internet business, a real-time chat system in 1983, one of the world's first. There is probably a bit of gilding the lily here, but in essence, all this appears to be true.

Now here's the kicker. I didn't plan it that way. I just happened to enjoy talking with people via my PC, yet I also recognized, as it was happening, that I was watching a medium unfold before me.

During that time, I went to North Central College in Naperville, Ill. graduating in '90 with a BA in History, with an emphasis on English, communications and psychology. By trade, I was a high school teacher. However, while in school, I'd started a national sports memorabilia company, and for a decade was the President of "Dr. Defunct," which I sold in 1994. He had some baseball cards and lower level sports memorabilia that he sold online, and probably went to a few shows away from Chicago. By all accounts, this business wasn't successful on any level, and by "selling" his business he means he sold his box of baseball cards and bag of mitts to someone.

Overall, I consider myself a "full-time professional modem user," since really, the Internet and the people that use it, are truly the love of my life.

The client subsequently declined doing business with the company, causing the company to lose significant revenue and forcing workers to continue to work without pay.
